Twenty-three-year-old Shambah Arjoun, of Lot 836-679 Tucville appeared at the Georgetown Magis-trate’s Court yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus where he was charged with robbery and escaping lawful custody.
Arjoun denied the charges.
It is alleged that on June 16, at Hadfield Street, Lodge, Georgetown, Arjoun robbed Stacey Cadogan of a Samsung A23 cellular phone valued $40,000 and a Samsung S20 Plus cellphone valued $200,000.
Investigators managed to obtain CCTV footage showing the robbery and one of the cellphones was traced and found in the possession of an accomplice of the accused. Arjoun was also positively identified by the complainant.
It is also alleged that on June 30, at East La Peni-tence, Georgetown, while being held in police custody at the East La Peni-tence Police Station for robbery, Arjoun escaped from custody.
The police prosecutor strongly objected to bail due to the prevalence of the offence. The magistrate concurred and remanded Arjoun to prison.
The matter has been adjourned to July 19.
