Rivers View opened the defence of their Bartica Football Association Senior Men’s Championship in the perfect manner, crushing AK Galaxy by a 5-2 score-line on Monday evening.
Hosted at the Community Centre ground, Esteban Martinez handed AK Galaxy the initial lead in the 12th minute. However, Antonio Jones restored parity to proceedings in the 19th minute. AK Galaxy restored their one goal advantage, as Sheldon Parks netted in the 29th minute.
Once again, Jones made his presence felt to level the contest, sealing his double with a 43rd minute conversion. The score remained unchanged at 2-2 heading into the halftime interval.
Nonetheless it proved to be a game of two halves as Rivers View recorded three unanswered goals to secure the win. Jones completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute to hand Rivers View a 3-2 advantage.
Andel Norton then got into the scoring act with a 70th minute strike to push the score to 4-2, before Andrew Simmons completed the result via a 72nd minute effort.
Meanwhile, Potaro Strikers defeat Lazio via walkover. The event continues today at the same venue with another doubleheader. At 18:00hrs, Beacons will oppose Agatash whilst Rising Stars will lock horns with Mil Ballers from 20:00hrs.
