The Guyanese male and female under-19 teams will be eagerly pursuing their first win of the ongoing Regional Under-19 tournament when they return to the field today.
The boys will be in battle against Leeward Islands at Cumberland. Guyana will be looking for a better showing with the bat, having been rolled over for a paltry 78 in 23.4 overs against Jamaica, who mowed down the target in 14.5 overs. Extras top scored with 20 while opener Rampertab Ramnauth and Shamar Yearwood were the only batsmen to reach double figures with 16 and 13 respectively.
With a deep batting order, captain Mavindra Dindyal and coach Andre Percival will be contemplating their batting order and reworking their plans to face the Islanders.
The girls suffered a similar fate against Windward Islands as they made 40 for two in 13 overs but could not restrict their opponents who reached 41 for four in 11.2 overs. Extras accounted for the most with 17 while Tilleya Madramootoo made 12 not out. The girls will now face Barbados at University of the West Indies campus, Trinidad.
