Defending champion Nicolette Fernandes and Alex Arjoon romped to the Women’s and Men’s titles when the Guinness Senior National Squash Championships concluded yesterday at the Georgetown Club, Camp Street.
In the Women’s final, Fernandes made light work of Ashley Khalil, prevailing in straight sets 11-5, 11-4, and 11-3. Similarly, Arjoon dethroned holder Shomari Wiltshire in straight sets 12-10, 11-4, and 11-8.
Meanwhile, Regan Pollard, Lydia Fraser, and Joseph Mekdeci won the Men’s Over 40, Women’s Veterans, and Men’s Over 50 titles respectively.
In the Men’s Over 40 final, Pollard overcame Jerazeno Bell 11-5, 3-11, 11-5, and 11-9. On the other hand, Fraser bested Michelle Low 11-2, 11-4, and 11-6 in the Women’s Veterans final. Similarly, Mekdeci downed Brian Yong 11-9, 11-6, and 11-4 in the Men’s Over 50 final.
