Guyana Under-19 boys suffered their third loss of the Cricket West Indies Region Under-19 tournament after they were beaten by Trinidad and Tobago in Round Four yesterday, ultimately ending their chances of championship glory.
Batting first at Arnos Vale, Guyana were bowled out for 146 in 40.1 overs while Trinidad reached 136 for four in 38 overs to secure their first win of the competition.
Batting at number nine, Thaddeus Lovell once again produced a useful cameo to give the South American side a respectable total. Lovell top scored with a ball-a-run 33, hitting four fours and one six along the way.
Shamar Yearwood smashed three sixes on his way to 29 from 35 balls while Rivaldo Phillips made 20 from 41 balls. Dependable duo, Mavindra Dindyal and Rampertab Ramnauth could not kick on after getting starts of 18 and 16 respectively.
No other batsman could reach double figures as Andrew Rambaran picked up 4-27 from 10 overs. He was supported by Ronillester Perreira who took 3-8 in 7.1 overs.
Trinidad’s top order did most of the heavy lifting with Kyle Ramdoo top scoring with 37 from 46 balls before being bowled by Jeremy Sandia (2-35). He struck six boundaries while adding 71 for the opening partnership alongside vice-captain, Justin Jagessar. Jagessar made 31 from 55 balls.
Rajeev Ramnath chipped in with 21 not out while Kyle Kissoondath made 16 and Rambaran returned to make 10. Extras accounted for 20.
Meanwhile, Jamaica defeated Windward Islands by nine wickets to secure their fourth victory while Leeward Islands beat Barbados by five wickets.
