Local standout musclemen, Darious Ramsammy and Emmerson Campbell along with Surinamese Charelle Mayer posed and flexed their way to the marquee titles when ‘Stage of Champions 5’ was held on Sunday at the Ramada Princess Hotel.
Ramsammy, the reigning Mr. Guyana was crowned to the overall bodybuilding title while Campbell earned his fourth win at the event in the fledgling Men’s Physique category.
Mayer brought her aesthetic talents over the border and strutted away with the top Miss Bikini trophy at the fixture which returned from a hiatus due to the Covid pandemic.
Ramsammy, nicknamed ‘Razor’ used his sharp physique to slice through the competition in the under 176-lb class then returned to the overall and was given the judges nod ahead of Suriname’s Anthony Nekry (over 186-lb class winner) and Barbados’ Sanajnaveed Lewis (under 164-lb class winner).
For his heroics, under the bright lights of the conference room, Ramsammy was awarded the champion’s trophy and the $500,000 first prize. Half of that amount went to Nekry, while $150,000 was pocketed by Lewis.
Meanwhile, Campbell in a white and blue board shorts was counting green all the way to the bank with the $300,000 first place winnings. The sum of $200,000 went to Rafael Kromokaryo of Suriname while Grenada’s Odel Cato flew back home with $100,000 for his third place finish.
In the Miss Bikini segment, Mayer was the near perfect mix of muscularity, symmetry, beauty and style and took home the spoils for the category ahead of her worthy opponents, Melitha Anderson and Christina Ramsammy. Their prize packages were the same as the Men’s Physique class.
The event which was well attended, garnered corporate support from Fitness Express, New GPC Inc., West Indies Sports Complex, Space Gym, Twins Manufacturing, The Outdoor Store, Western Scientific and others. Organizers labeled the fifth edition of the show a success and stated that the sixth is tentatively set for next July.
