There has been a rise of COVID-19 cases in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Region Two. This is according to the region’s Regional Executive Officer (REO), Susannah Saywack, who reported the spike at the July sitting of the Regional Democratic Council’s statutory meeting.
Under the report of Health, it was disclosed that the region has 14 active cases with one death for 2023. The REO also informed that vaccines and booster shots are available in the region and urged residents to make the effort to get their jabs.
According to statistics, one male and four females are in institutional isolation and nine persons are in home isolation (three male and six females). And since the pandemic began, the region has had 3,377 positive cases with 71 deaths.
Saywack assured that the COVID-19 vaccines are available at health centres and called on residents to ensure that they take the necessary precautionary measures against the virus.
When a senior official in the health sector was asked what measures are in place, the official responded that health workers can only educate persons about the danger, as persons still need to venture to the health centres to take their shots.
