The recently named Guyana Under-17 squad will be housed at the Guyana Cricket Board’s La Bonne Intention facility where they will undergo a series of training in preparation for the upcoming Regional Under-17 two-day and 50-over tournaments.
That tournament will begin on August 9 in Trinidad and Tobago, giving the youngsters two weeks of practice under the guidance of Coach Quasen Nedd and Manager, Neil Rudder.
The team will be captained by Demerara skipper, Jonathan Van Lange who is expected to lead the batting line up, having come off of a solid inter-county tournament where he smashed 158 in one of those matches.
Berbice captain, Matthew Pottaya will serve as his deputy while the likes of Rampersaud Ramnauth, Sanjay Algoo, Nicholas Shiopersaud, Vikash Wilson and others are entering on the backs of solid performances.
Notably, the Moruca sub-region, for the first time will have two players in the national side as seasoned campaigner, Bruce Vincent, who was the first player from Waramuri village to play at this level is joined by Darwin Joseph who hails from warapoka.
Guyana also named the likes of Dave Mohabir, Stephon Sankar and Harold De Mattos, three standout players from the inter-county, in their standby bunch, further adding to the vast talent onboard.
