Guyana trails Barbados by 131 runs with one wicket in hand heading into the final day of their three-day match in the Cricket West Indies Under-19 Regional tournament.
As day two came to a close at Park Hill, Guyana closed on 171 for nine after 52 overs, responding to Barbados’ first innings of 302 for nine declared after 86 overs.
Jonathan Rampersaud top scored with 32 from 28 balls while Aryan Persaud and Shamar Yearwood made 31 and 30 respectively. However, none of the Guyanese batsmen could carry on. Rampertab Ramnauth made 27 while Thaddeus Lovell chipped in with 22 but no other batsman could reach double figures.
Joshua Dorne, Saurav Worrell and Isaiah Folkes picked up two wickets each for Barbados.
Earlier, Barbados’ top order provided a solid start for them with J Morris hitting 59 from 90 balls before being stumped off of Rampersaud. Dorne also made 56 from 86 balls while Nimar Bolden became the third batsman to reach a half-century with an even 50.
Achilles Browne made 46 in a resistive innings that spanned 141 deliveries while Jayden Roberts chipped in with 22.
West Indies Under-19 fast bowler, Isai Thorne was the pick of the bowlers with 3-77 while his Berbice spin twins, Rampersaud and Jeremy Sandia took two wickets each.
