President Dr. Irfaan Ali, on Friday, met with organisers of the Kares One Guyana T10 Tape-ball Blast which will be played in Georgetown on July 29 and 30.
President Ali who is also the tournament’s patron, recommitted his support for the tournament and noted that it is an event that will bring many people together from varying communities under the ‘One Guyana’ banner.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ali unveiled the specially-made hand-crafted winner’s trophy. Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips was also present, and pledged his support towards the tournament.
Preliminary matches will be staged at the Police Sports Club, the Guyana Defence Force, Queen’s College Ground, Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Ground and Transport Sports Club, while the finals will be held at the Everest Cricket Ground on July 30.
The 32 teams in the tournament come from nine of the 10 administrative regions and are Eccles All Star, Hero Riders, Ministry of Human Services, Bartica Bulls, Avinash All Star, PB Contractors, Continental Transport, Moruca, Eastsyde, Airport XI, The United Crew, Spartan Strikers, Village Rams, Young Steppaz, Ministry of Housing and Water, Central Stars, Ariel XI, Movements, Big B’s Blairmont Blazers, MS 13, Team Corruption, Upsetters, GPL, Laluni, Name Brand, Storm Chasers, Tarmac Titans, EC Express, Diamond Gunners, Region 3 Police, Avery Lounge, Vnet Vipers.
Over $2M in prizes are up for grabs with the winners pocketing $1M and the runner-up, $300,000. Fans will be able to win special prizes while there will be an exhibition on show as well as a kids zone.
