Shaquille James (address not stated) appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly where he was sentenced to six months for robbery after pleading guilty.
It was stated in court that on July 13, at Guyhoc Access Road, the defendant while in the company of another, robbed Jonathan Duesbury of one Samsung Galaxy phone valued $73,000.
The court heard that Duesbury had exited a minibus at Guyhoc Access Road around 14:30 hours, when he was confronted by the James, the defendant and the other unknown party. The defendant then pushed his hand into the pocket of the victim and relieved him of his cellphone. The duo then escaped. A police patrol which was in the vicinity, saw the commotion and intervened. James was later contacted and charged with robbery.
The defendant was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
