Rodwell Peters, 31, died on the Ituni Trail in Region 10 on Monday afternoon after his vehicle overturned. A police investigation is ongoing.
The police said in a statement that the fatal accident occurred at about 1600 hours. It involved an articulated motor vehicle, GAD 6569, driven by Peters and an occupant identified as Damian Fraser (a porter) of Coomacka Mines.
Investigations have so far revealed that the articulated vehicle was proceeding north along the Ituni trail, descending a hill. The vehicle approached a right bend at a fast rate which caused the driver to lose control and causing the vehicle to topple. Peters was pinned under the vehicle, whilst Fraser, who suffered injuries, was picked up and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was admitted.
At about 0230 hours yesterday morning, Peters’ body was retrieved from the accident site and taken to the Mackenzie Hospital Complex.
