0n July 17, 2023, Stabroek News reported that a fire started in the Brickdam Police lockup by one, Stephan Howard. He stated that he “found” a lighter and a piece of toilet paper in his cell and he lit the paper to chase away mosquitoes.
Question: Who is culpable or was it an administrative breakdown or lax security that allowed an inanimate object, the lighter, to gain entry into the Brickdam lockups?
Not so long ago, an almost identical scenario caused the conflagration that gutted the Brickdam Police Station.
