With construction to commence soon, the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), Ministry of Labour yesterday conducted a sod- turning ceremony for the construction of two new training facilities in New Amsterdam and Corriverton, Region 6.
A team from the labour ministry and BIT, comprised of Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour; Permanent Secretary, Bishram Kuppen; Chairman of BIT, David Armogan; Chief Executive Officer (ag), Onyekachukwu Saskia Eastman; Mayor of Corriverton, Imran Amin; Town Clerk of Corriverton, Narendra Sukhran and Mayor of New Amsterdam, Wainright McInstosh, among other officials attended the ceremony.
The two training facilities will be constructed by local contractors to the tune of $83 million and will house the Board of Industrial Training, Occupational Safety and Health, Labour, Cooperative & Friendly Societies and Central Recruitment and Manpower officers of the ministry.
