Rice farmers in the Abary/Berbice area have been notified that as of July 26 they will have to pump water into their fields as part of conservation efforts during the El Nino period.
In an advertisement in today’s Guyana Chronicle, the Mahaica, Mahaicony, Abary-Agricultural Development Authority (MMA-ADA) said that beginning Wednesday July 26th, the water in the irrigation canal system will be supplied at the average field level.
