The inaugural A Record Chance (ARC) Sprint camp was launched yesterday at the Police Progressive Youth Club Ground, Eve Leary.
The initiative which is the brainchild of star athlete, Arinze Chance, has in its mandate to dedicate the advancement of sports, athlete and sports education locally.
The camp commences from 1100 hrs at Eve Leary and will cater to the first 100 athletes aged 10 to 16. Candidates are asked to register on the A Record Chance social platforms.
The camp’s aim is to target a holistic approach to development of an athlete.
It will focus on providing valuable learning resources for track and field athletes, as well as individuals seeking to enhance their speed and agility.
Activities will include Agility and Speed, Strength and Power Training, Recovery Techniques, Physiotherapy, Diet and Nutrition and much more.
Additionally, the camp offers essential auxiliary support for off-the-track training, encompassing services like physiotherapy, strength training, and nutrition.
ARC aims to bridge a longstanding gap in the country by establishing connections between corporate entities in Guyana and aspiring athletes.
According to Chance, during the event, parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to actively support their young athletes, adding a crucial component to what we call the “athlete quadrant”:
Training (both track and strength conditioning)
Recovery (including physiotherapy and nutrition, among other aspects)
Endorsements (comprising sponsorships and partnerships)
Familial support (contributing to the mental and emotional well-being of athletes)
Chance added that developing an individual requires the collective effort of a community, but nurturing future Olympians demands the collaboration of an entire nation.
ARC’s ultimate goal is to foster continuous development and transformation within the realm of sports.
At the launch, brief remarks were made by physiotherapist, Neil Barry Jr. along with Finance Experts, Matthew Gaul and Carlwyn Collins.
Track and Field coaches, Keniesha Headley and Lyndon Wilson were also in attendance and endorsed the initiative of the camp.
