Noel eliminated from World Aquatics Championships in Japan

Despite two first places at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan, Guyanese swimming sensation Raekwon Noel was unable to progress to the next round of the tournament, as his times were below the qualifying mark.

The University of Indiana commit, and five gold medal winner at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships, stopped the lock at 4:05.70 to win his unseeded heat in the Men’s 400m Freestyle, in the process falling just shy of his national record of 4:03.57 which was achieved at the aforesaid Caribbean championship.

Meanwhile, Noel, 17, won his 200m Butterfly heat with a new national record of 2:05.65, eclipsing his previous mark of 2:05.85 which was also set at the CAR

In the 200m butterfly, Noel set a new national record with a winning time of 2:05.65, surpassing his previous benchmark of 2:05.85 set at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships.

Guyana’s participation in the event will continue in the form of Aleka Persaud and Leon Seaton Jr.
