Two men, Orlando Scott, 25, of Cummings Park, Sophia, Georgetown, and Chris McKenzie, 24, of Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, both of whom on July 4, confessed to robbery, appeared virtually at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus to change their pleas, after they were informed that if they changed their guilty pleas, they could request leniency from the magistrate and they would be fined and the matter dismissed.
McKenzie’s defence counsel informed the court that his client did not understand the nature of a guilty plea, while Scott who was unrepresented informed the court of his request to change his plea on the same grounds.
