Leon Seaton Jr was eliminated at the first hurdle at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan, after battling to a fifth place in the Men’s 100m Freestyle.
Seaton Jr failed to progress from heat #4 following a time of 53.75. He becomes the second Guyanese to be eliminated from the event, after Raekwon Noel was unable to advance to the next round due to an inferior qualifying time despite winning two of his heats.
Noel won the Men’s 400m Freestyle with a time of 4:05.70. He also prevailed in his 200m Butterfly heat with a new national record of 2:05.65, eclipsing his previous mark of 2:05.85. Guyana’s participation in the event will continue in the form of Aleka Persaud.
