Komalchan Ramnarace walked away with the cricketer of the academy accolade when the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) 34th annual cricket academy concluded on Friday at the Area H ground.
This was disclosed by an official release from the club. According to the correspondence, Ramnarace, 15, pocketed over $200,000 worth of prizes including a Kings Jewelry World Cricket Medallion, a bicycle, electronic tablet, designer watch, head phone, food hampers, cosmetic hamper, a lazy boy chair, a cricket bat and kitchen utensils.
Meanwhile, 15 year old Denelle Manns copped the female player of the academy award, and walked away with a plethora of prizes including a bicycle, designer watch, hampers and kitchen utensils.
Similarly, Munesh Rampersaud, Khemraj Tika, Dave Prettipaul, Deeraj Ramjit, Jordon Frank and Derwin McKenzie copped the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, Most Improved, Most Disciplined, and Most Dedicated awards respectively.
On the other hand, Cleon Mariano, Jousha Brijraj, Anthony Shirkissson, Aden Moore, Dharvesh Narine, Sohail Sirkissoon, Jonathan Hicks, Justin Hicks, Khemraj Bharrat, and Joel Barry each received a pair of batting gloves as promising players for the future. Also, an additional four players received watches, whilst every member of the academy received a coloured t-shirt, a food hamper along with a school bag filled with educational materials.
The academy which started on July 17th, and was sponsored by the club’s official donors in the form of Bakewell and the Guyana Beverage Company, featured a battery of coaches including Winston Smith, Eon Hopper, Erva Giddings, Tremayne Smarty, Ryan Algu, Floyd Benjamin and Davindra Ramdihal.
