Guyana Under-19 cricketers completed the Cricket West Indies’ Regional three-day tournament with a draw against Windward Islands yesterday.
Batting first, Windwards made 244 all out in 92.1 overs while Guyana established a first innings lead after piling up 359 all out in 101.1 overs. Windwards would close the match on 72 for three after 16 overs.
Guyana’s openers ensured them first innings’ honors as Rivaldo Phillips top scored with 98 from 175 balls. His innings featured two sixes and 13 fours before he was dismissed by Kirt Murray.
Phillips’ skipper and Georgetown Cricket Club teammate Mavindra Dindyal worked in tandem as he made 94 from 117 balls, striking 144 fours and one six along the way.
Zeynul Ramsammy chipped in with 40 from 74 balls while Jonathan Rampersaud scored a 35-ball 39.
West Indies under-19 skipper, Ackeem Auguste was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-66 while Murray ended with 3-55.
In Windwards’ first innings, Stephan Pascal top scored with 88 from 192 balls. He struck 12 boundaries before he was bowled by Jeremy Sandia.
Divonie Joseph fell four runs short of a half-century while Auguste made 39 before falling to Sandia who ended with 3-61. His Berbice teammates, Rampersaud and Isai Thorne took two wickets.
