Dolphin, DC Caesar Fox, Carmel into Digicel Football Quarterfinals

Dolphin, DC Caesar Fox, Carmel and West Ruimveldt/Charlestown earned quarterfinal berths, when the round of 16 section concluded yesterday in the 8th iteration of the Digicel Schools Football Championship at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Georgetown champion Dolphin overcame Region #3 titlist Westminster 4-2. Gerry Burnett crafted a hat-trick in the 23rd, 33rd, and 51st minute, whilst Jequan Cole scored in the 68th minute. For the loser, Teyon Kennedy and Ezra Clarke netted in the 30th and 71st minute apiece.

Similarly, Region #7 winner DC Caesar Fox downed Region #5 champion Mahaicony Technical Institute (MTI) 3-1. Bevon Jones bagged a second half double in the 59th and 90th minute, whilst Anthonio Isaacs scored in the 56th minute. On target in the loss was Rolston McDonald in the 62nd minute.

On the other hand, Carmel Secondary crushed Berbice Educational Institute 4-0. Marcus Layne registered a double in the 22nd and 35th minute, whilst Ian Daniels and Amar Husbands scored in the 45th and 57th minute respectively.

Meanwhile, Charlestown squeaked past West Ruimveldt on sudden death penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 1-1. Prior to the eventual conclusion, Andrew Carto scored for Charlestown in the 34th minute, whilst Donovan Welcome equalised for West Ruimveldt in the 85th minute. The quarterfinal section will commence on Sunday at the same venue.
