This was disclosed by an official release from the GFF. The team which features two overseas based players, comprises Goalkeepers: Tejpal Nijjar [overseas] and LeAndre Garnette; Defenders: Jameal Garnett, Michael Joseph, Candel Hazel, Kemron Pellew, and Max Robinson [overseas]; Midfielders: Shaquan David, Mikkel Mills, Keishon Leacock, Malcolm Hendricks, Luke Langevine, Quancy Fraser, Jaden Harris, and Joseph Eusebio, and Forwards: Ezekiel Baldeo, Stephon Sprosta and Machaia DeFreitas
Meanwhile, the management is led by Head-coach Devnon Winter, with Selwyn Isaacs, Andre Gibbs, Pablino Cupido, and Joyann Williams serving in the capacity of Assistant Coach, Goalkeeper Coach, Physiotherapist, and Team Manager respectively.
Guyana will face-off against Barbados, Guadeloupe, and St. Lucia. The Guyanese will open their campaign against the Barbadians on August 6th, before battling Guadeloupe a day later. They will end their group stage campaign on August 8th. All three matches will be staged at the Ergilio Hato Stadium. The winner of the group will progress to the elimination stage. This is Guyana’s fourth appearance at this level.
Coach Winter said he is “optimistic that the boys will make Guyana proud. The coaching staff along with the players have done the hard work so it’s just how good we execute on the game day will determine our chance against the countries in our group.”
He further added, “Selection was tough because of the pool of very good players we had to select from, especially having some international players among the group, but we are confident this is the right group of players. The team selection was based on the quality of discipline, technique, tactics, physical, mental strength, social and game intelligence.”
