Beacons defeated Rivers View 3-2 in the battle of the undefeated sides when the Bartica Football Association Senior Men’s League continued Friday evening at the Community Centre ground.
The win, the team’s fourth, took them to 14 points and to the top of the point’s standings.
Omario Lake opened the scoring for Rivers View in the fourth minute only for the lead to be erased six minutes later through Whitney Welcome. The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval. Welcome then made his presence felt once more, completing his brace in the 51st minute to hand Beacons a 2-1 advantage.
The lead ballooned to 3-1 when Oswin Joseph found the back of the net in the 56th minute. Rivers View was able to reduce the deficit in the 58th minute when Lake completed his double. However, the score remained unchanged and Beacons secured the vital result.
It was Rivers View’s first defeat from five games and left them on 12 points and in third place.
There will be more action tomorrow night at the Bartica Community Centre ground when both sides will again be involved. Rivers View will oppose Mil Ballers at 7pm and at 9pm, Beacons will meet Rising Stars.
