The Guyana Amazon Warriors camp has begun locally with coaches, Rayon Griffith and Ryan Hercules taking the players through their paces at the Everest Cricket Club ahead of the 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Over the past three days, the local players have been going through drills and various other scenarios in the hope of claiming their first title. “Most of the guys came into the camp with some amount of cricket under their belt and the objective is to get them into the CPL mindset so when the tournament gets underway, they will be ready to hit the ground running,” said coach Griffith.
“I’m happy to see most of the guys coming into the camp have shown hunger and passion, especially the younger players and the comradery is there early,” he added.
Warriors are expected to depart local shores shortly. They will begin their campaign on August 19 against St. Lucia Kings. Warriors will play six games before coming home where they will be in action on September 13, 14, 16 and 17 at the National Stadium, Providence.
Providence will also host the Eliminator on September 19 followed by Qualifier One and Two on September 20 and 22. The final is set for September 24 at 19.00 hours.
