Guyana’s Tianna Springer struck gold in the women’s 400m final as local athletes crowded the podium yesterday at the ongoing Youth Commonwealth Games in Trinidad and Tobago.
Springer, this year’s CARIFTA Games and South American U-20 Championships gold medalist, crossed the tape at the Hasely Crawford stadium in a blistering 53.55s to add another international gold medal to her resume.
The 16-year-old track standout led England’s Charlotte Henrich (53.65s) and fellow Guyanese, Narissa McPherson (54.82s) onto the podium.
