Christopher Douglas was yesterday sentenced to four years imprisonment after pleading guilty to possession of 26 kg of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
A release from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit said that Douglas appeared yesterday before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge. He was also fined $39,024,000.
While conducting a routine operation at a cargo company adjacent to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, EBD, on August 6th, CANU intercepted a motor car with registration number PWW 5561 with 57 lbs of cocaine.
CANU said Douglas, 37 years of Lot 1070 Providence EBD & 127 King Edward Street, Albouystown, Georgetown was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the narcotic which later tested positive for cocaine.
