Businessman Nazar Mohamed has written to rights group, Red Thread strongly denying that he and his son were connected to any threats to the organisation.
In a letter dated August 7th to Karen de Souza, Coordinator of Red Thread, Mohamed, the Managing Director of Mohamed’s Enterprise, disclosed that he had given a sworn statement to the Guyana Police Force on the matter.
Red Thread had lodged a complaint with the police after it received an email alleging that Mohamed would target it. The email also mentioned the diplomatic community. The police then apparently took a statement from Mohamed.
In his letter, which was seen by Stabroek News, Mohamed stated he had received notification on July 28 about the email which had been sent to Red Thread.
“We Nazar Mohamed and Azruddin I Mohamed of Mohamed’s Enterprise being referred to in the said email is not aware if any email which was sent to the Red Thread Guyana organisation, and we have not issued any instructions to anyone to prepare or send any communication to the coordinator and members of the Red Thread Guyana organization or to members of the Diplomatic Community”, the letter stated.
He also provided background on his organisation.
“We Nazar Mohamed and Azruddin I Mohamed of Mohamed’s Enterprise stand committed to representing the rights of the underprivileged and disenfranchised in our society. We are also a charity driven business establishment and contribute significantly to orphans and single parent families across Guyana.
Additionally, over four decades we have partnered with several organisations and individuals with whom you have also worked with and they can attest to our character, values and principles”, the letter read.
The letter added that the email was intended to create fear and ill will between the Mohameds and Red Thread. He extended best wishes to the organisation.
