Two persons were held by police at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo on Tuesday after three firearms and over 170 rounds of ammunition were found in their house.
The police said in a release that the operation was carried out on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023, between 11:50 am and 1:30 pm. It was led by an Assistant Superintendent and targeted the residence of Delon Osborne, alias ‘Gizmo’, a 35-year-old labourer residing at Lot 2 Archer Street, Vergenoegen.
Police arrived at Osborne’s residence and made contact with him and Joyann Sobers, a 22-year-old woman who is the mother of Osborne’s child. Armed with information suggesting the presence of narcotics, firearms and ammunition within the premises, the police officers explained their intent. The police say that Osborne willingly consented to the search, allowing officers to enter his residence.
