Indiscriminate burning of solid waste in Enterprise

Dear Editor,

I am begging you to please publish this letter, so that speedy action can be taken about a shop at 49 Park Street Enterprise, whose owner have no care and consideration for the children and elderly citizens within the neighbourhood, The owner burns his garbage about 5:00am most mornings, which comprised of plastic and other waste material which pose a very serious health hazard. At the moment, a child is hospitalized with serious breathing and lung problem from the inhalation of the deadly fumes. I reported this to the NDC councilors within our area but no one helped, because the owner is rude and threatens harm to people who correct them.

I am still wondering how Guyana can be the next Dubai. The Government promised us to take care of the garbage problem during their Local Government Election campaign. Only Election they visit and fool and lie to us, I even call Freedom House and report but like they’re sleeping and will wake up come the next election. But we are prepared and waiting to vote them out. I hope and pray the child will survive from the deadly air pollution and for a quick and speedy resolution to this situation.

Sincerely,
