New Diamond man gets 43 months for ganja

Rayanthony Persaud was yesterday sentenced to 43 months imprisonment for the possession of 13 lbs of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

A release yesterday from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said that Persaud appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and was also fined $5.1m.

CANU said that Persaud, aka ‘Tony’, was arrested on 22nd March 2022, at New Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara when its officers discovered approximately 5.75 kg (about 13 lbs.) of cannabis in his possession.
