Two Friends woman granted bail over fraudulent conversion charge

Roylyn Berkshire, 29, of Lot 23 Two Friends, East Coast Demerara, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Rhondell Weever on 14th August 2023, to answer to the charge of fraudulent conversion.

It is alleged that between 1st July and 30th November 2022, at Guyana Power and Light, Main Street, Georgetown, the defendant fraudulently converted to her own use $1,345,000, property of Marcelle Williams.

The prosecutor objected to bail given the sum involved. Bail was however granted in the sum of $120,000 and the defendant must report fortnightly, on Fridays, to CID Headquarters commencing on 25th August. The defendant was also ordered to lodge her travel documents. Berkshire is expected to make her next court appearance on 28th August for statements.
