Dear Editor,
Present Guyanese politicians should aspire to hold to their beliefs while seeking compromises like my father, President Cheddi, because he never changed politically, not even for a second, and, combined with his integrity, honesty and humility – no Guyanese can dislike or hate him, except Freddie Kissoon and Kit Nascimento.
However, Kissoon and Nascimento both do their propaganda with straight faces, showing the Guyanese people clearly that the saying “politics breeds strange bedfellows” is owned by them. These two spent years upon years cussing out the PPP and in particular, President Cheddi and now they cuddle with their new masters, passionately defending every single political and economic misdirection the present PPP is hell-bent on following. Isn’t it strange – listen up folks – that they disliked Cheddi Jagan when he ran the PPP and now they both love and cuddle the new fifth dimension PPP? I always remember, since I was a teenager in the 1960s my father and mother angrily talked in our house about their dislike of Nascimento and the vicious and hurtful lies he spewed from his position as Propaganda Minister.
Editor, one of the terrible losses to our nation was the migration of our Portu-guese brethren to Canada and Florida in the 1970s and really Nascimento should examine his conscience and explain to the nation why he never made a stand to stop or slow down that migration. The Portuguese people of Guyana were very important to our economy especially in business, culture, sports and their religious pursuits and added greatly to the diversity of our nation. Since he was so passionate in cussing out Jagan and now defending the fifth dimension PPP, Nascimento should have been as passionate in defending the Portuguese people of Guyana. But no, he was too busy serving his masters in that period. As to Kissoon who has attacked President Cheddi so many times in the most sickening ways, what can I say except ‘ambassador’ Freddie and ‘ambassador’ Charandass – buddies forever.
Nascimento and Kissoon obviously live by different standards of political commitment that most Guyanese politicians adhere to – these two own a different space in our political world, where most of our politicians would never venture – not President Ali, VP Jagdeo, Mr.Norton , Mr.Ramjattan, Mr. Glen Lall or any other MP, Mayor, etc. No Sir, these two individuals are special – very special – a species of political wannabes who have no political ethics other than double talking; no political commitment other than attracting attention; no political loyalty other than playing the pied piper.
Editor, luckily, many of our current politicians are not, in any way, persons like Kissoon, Nascimento or Charandass and that is a good portent for our politics. Guyanese have to be very careful and shut out views coming from these three individuals, especially Nascimento (Kissoon is really a joker in a pack of cards and Charandass is a pawn on a chessboard). In the history of Guyanese political double talking, Kit Nascimento holds a very special place which I hope will never be filled by a similar individual – he should have shown even a little respect for my father.
My father and mother disliked Nascimento vehemently and many people in the PPP today know that very well (but they themselves are caught in the 5th dimension PPP) and they just have to check Kissoon and the diatribes he wrote against Jagan – but -”strange bedfellows” lead in only one direction- calamity- alas Charandass.
