Giant Killers Eccles All-Stars turned in a fine all round display to defeat V-Net Vipers by 32 runs and win the inaugural Kares T10 final Saturday under lights at the National Stadium, Providence.

On their way to the final Eccles All Stars had upset formidable sides such as The Guards and Movements Family (Mahdia).

Batting first, Eccles posted a commanding 154-5 from their 10  overs and, with arguably one of the better pace attacks in the tournament, contained the powerful V-Net Vipers batting unit to 122-7.

V-Net Vipers played well but had to settle for second place.

For Eccles All Stars, Jonte Thomas, was the star performer with the bat smashing a whirlwind eight sixes and five fours in the top score of 76 from 29 balls.

He recived excellent support from Quazim Yusuf whose 47 from 23 balls included five sixes and two fours.

The two put on an opening partnership of

103 runs from 7.1 overs effectively putting the contest to bed.

Troy Gonsalves added the finishing touches with a four-ball cameo of 15 runs which included two sixes.

National player Kemol Savory (2-14), Joshua Jones (2-32), and Antony Adams (1-42) were the main wicket takers for V-Net Vipers who found the run chase tough going.

The dangerous Quentin Sampson was dismissed for an eighth ball 16 while David Williams (33), Richie Looknauth (21), and Savory (20) kept their team in the hunt although the run rate soared.

Omesh Danram of Village Rams collects his Most Valuable Player award compliments of Assuria Insurance.

It was another all-around bowling effort by the East Bank Demerara unit as all of their bowlers picked up wickets regularly, keeping the pressure on the V-Net batsmen.

National player Shamar Joseph once again led the bowling charge for Eccles with 2-21 in his three overs.

Eccles won the first prize of $1M while V-Net Vipers took home $300,000, and the two losing semi-finalists received $100,000.
