A knockout three nights of fistic battles gets underway this evening as the prestigious Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Schoolboys/Juniors Championship returns to the ornate splendor of the National Gymnasium.
Bell time is set for 18:00hrs nightly and admission is listed at $2000 for ringside and $1000 for the stands.
Team Guyana’s boxers are set to defend their country title against pugilists from Barbados, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago and according to manager, Seon Bristol, the locals are primed for heroics.
Bristol declared, “Preparation has been excellent; since the team has encamped, they have been working twice a day. In the morning, they would get up and go to the national park, if not the seawalls, and even to the gymnasium itself. We have quite a few talented trainers that have dedicated their time to this tournament. We have a total of four coaches that are with the team, so I have been briefed about their activities, and I was able to brief them on some of the expectations that have been set for them.”
