Handyman pleads guilty to robbing Canal resident, 76

Amos Jack, a 21-year-old handyman of Zeelugt Squatting Area, East Bank Essequibo, was arrested and charged on Friday  under Section 187 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act Chapter 8:01 for Larceny in Dwelling House, committed on a 76-year-old of Canal #1, West Bank Demerara, which occurred between July and August 2023.

A statement from the police said that the accused appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty, where the charge was read, and he pleaded guilty. He was remanded to prison until September 15, 2023, for a probation report and sentencing.

The police recovered US$8,400 and $405,000.
