Briton John, in a time of one hour and 19 minutes yesterday won the Carlton Wheelers/Ricks and Sari, Regan Rodrigues Memorial cycle race around the inner circuit of the National Park.
Romello Crawford was second and Curtis Dey.
Robin Persaud, Kwame Ridley, Aaron Newton, occupied the next three places.
In the junior category, Aaron Newton got the better of Alex Leung, last year’s winner of the Open category.
In the veterans 40-50 age group, Robin Persaud, Kwame Ridley and Alex Mendes were the top three finishers while in the 50 years and over category, Junior Niles, Ian Jackson and Ray `Dasher’ Harlequin, making a return to the sport, were the top three finishers.
Sidwell Sandy and Aaron Newton were the top two juveniles.
The Prime prizes were won by Alex Leung, four, Dey, two and John and Warren `40’ Mc Kay one each.
The race was held in memory of Rodrigues, a former president of the club and in an invited comment last night, Linden Dowdridge said that he welcomed the continued support of Ricks and Sari and the Rodrigues’ family for keeping the up the legacy of the late Reagan Rodrigues.
The top three finishes in each category received cash and trophies along with hampers donated by Ricks and sari.
