Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) has thrown its support behind the Strikers Sports Club “All-Female Domino Championship,” which is penciled to commence on Saturday at the entity’s Meadowbrook location.
This was confirmed by an official release from the tournament organizers. The Marketing Officer of GKMS, Tina Seabra-Gibson, presented the sponsorship cheque, the second-place trophy and the corresponding medals to tournament co-organizer Roderick Harry.
Seabra-Gibson stated that the company is proud to support the tournament, which forms part of the entity’s corporate social responsibility. She added that the sport encapsulates many admirable tenets, such as strategic thinking and camaraderie, which resonate with the mantra of the establishment.
The release stated, “This initiative was birthed four years ago by “Three the Hard Way,” in which the inequality in women’s lives has to endure when competing against their male counterparts in dominoes.” Some of their all-female events include the Strikers Sports Club annual Christmas Bonanza, which began in 2019, the annual Salute to Mothers born in 2021, the annual All-Female Strikers Sports Club anniversary celebration, which began in 2019, and the annual Strikers Tribute to Mothers, which started in 2019.
The winner of the event will receive $250,000, a trophy, and nine medals, while the runner-up and third-place finisher will collect $125,000 and $75,000, respectively, as well as the corresponding accolades and medals. A bonus fourth-place prize of $40,000 and a trophy will also be presented. Entrance to the event will attract a fee of $12,000. The defending champions are the Yarrowkabra Ladies.
The other sponsors of the event are VSH United (Guyana) Inc., 94.1 FM, Austin’s Imports, Patterson Associates, Luminous Consultancy & Electrical Services, Big Boss Transportation Services, Dynasty Sports Club, Star Party Rentals, and Raphael’s Trading Enterprise.
