Prospect man remains unconscious two weeks after accident

Almost two weeks after he was struck by a motorcar on August 9th while crossing the Mocha to Diamond new access road in the vicinity of Prospect on the East Bank of Demerara, Denzel Smith remains unconscious at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Denzel’s sister, Keisha Smith, yesterday related to Stabroek News that recently her brother was taken off life support at the GPHC but he still remains in an unconscious state. She said that since the accident no relatives of the man who was driving the motorcar that day had visited to see how her brother is doing.

Keisha said she’s hopeful for her brother’s recovery as she was told that because of the severity of the injuries, he will take time to recover. When her brother, a construction worker got into the accident, doctors were treating him for a broken foot, a broken hand and injuries to his throat.
