Buffeted by a pilot sickout this week that stranded hundreds of passengers, Caribbean Airlines (CAL) today said that it expects regular operations to fully recover by tomorrow.
In a statement, CAL said that of today it has paid an external company to lay on four charters to operate special flights to accommodate over 1400 displaced persons on international flights.
August 21st was a particularly bad day with numerous pilots calling in sick amid stalled negotiations for a new collective labour agreement. CAL was later able to secure an order from the Trinidad industrial court for the pilots not to call in sick.
CAL said that its domestic airbridge between Trinidad and Tobago, regional and international flights are all operating according to the normal schedule and that this regular operation is working parallel to recovery flights.
