Dear Editor
Ours is a society that has been beaten down by an age old political system with local Machiavellian leaders who themselves are products of that same broken society. They have not moved assiduously to fix themselves much less the system. There is only the quest for power and dominance and the masses are the proverbial grass being trampled on. I will garner more enemies along the way. I am prepared for such eventualities.
I am not prepared for not doing what many before have been hesitant or have failed to do. The Opposition in Guyana is on a radar and it must endure rigorous scrutiny. It is there to deliver our people from the belly of the whale, not to fete in it with them. My activism has to be
ruthless towards our own leaders that are taking our people for granted. Our enemies do not value us and that is manifested daily in how we live and are treated. We not only feel devalued by the inaction of our leaders, we feel a sense of hopelessness by their ‘business as usual’ approach in times of tribulations.
We all have to do our part. I will continue to do mine.
Hopefully you will continue to do yours. We are waiting on the Opposition to do theirs.
The Leader is failing miserably. In fact, I believe he is enjoying the ride without a care in the world of where the political winds blow. I was warned beforehand, I am warning us now.
Sincerely,
Norman Browne
Social and Political Activist
