Woman gets six months for bid to smuggle ganja into jail

After confessing to concealing 22 grammes of cannabis in several toothpaste tubes and boxes, a woman was yesterday given a six-month prison sentence.

Channon Chichester, 28, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly where she was charged with attempting to smuggle narcotics into a penal facility.

It was alleged that on August 21, at Lot 12 Camp Street, Georgetown the defendant had in her possession 22 grammes of narcotics with the intent to smuggle it into the Camp Street Prison.
