Thirty-year-old Eon Jordon of Lot 323 Sachibazaar Street, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, appeared on Friday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly where he was charged with attempting to smuggle narcotics into a penal facility.
Jordon pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It is alleged that on August 22, at Brickdam, Georgetown, the defendant had 227 grams of cannabis hidden in two pairs of slippers.
The court heard that at approximately 12:50 hours, the defendant arrived at the Prison Headquarters where a routine search was conducted. During the search a quantity of suspected cannabis was discovered secreted in the soles of two pairs of slippers. Jordan was arrested and the cannabis when weighed amounted to 227 grammes.
The prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness and nature of the offence.
Bail was refused.
Jordan is scheduled to make his next court appearance on September 15 for statements.
