Dear Editor,
Guyanese students continue to excel at the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC). Unlike past years when Guyanese students were at the bottom of the performance ladder, that trend of declining performance has now been reversed, thanks to the emphasis placed on the PPP/C administration on the education sector.
More students are sitting the exams today due to the conversion of Community High Schools and the tops of primary schools.
What is particularly significant about the results is the better spread. Rural and hinterland schools are performing much better than in past years. Special mention must be made of the Anna Regina Multilateral School which has been performing at a consistently high level. In fact the school has on multiple occasions copped the top CXC awards not only in Guyana but also the Caribbean.
The Headteacher and staff of the Anna Regina Multilateral School must be commended for the excellent results.
Yours faithfully,
Hydar Ally
