Ricardo Ramsaroop, a 27-year-old barber from Bella Dam, West Bank Demerara, was arrested by Police yesterday after he was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana.
Ramsaroop was arrested around 23:30 hrs yesteday by CID and other ranks from the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station, who went to Lot 31 Bella Dam, West Bank Demerara. Ramsaroop was observed sitting on a fence with a bulky black bag in his hand.
As the ranks approached him, he ran and threw the bulky plastic bag on the ground. The ranks gave chase, and he was apprehended, police said.
The bag was opened, and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.
He was told of the offence, cautioned, arrested, and further escorted to his premises, where a search was conducted in his bedroom. A bulky black bag was found in the room, containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
He was escorted along with the two bags to the Leonora Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to 96 grams and 326.3 grams, respectively.
He was placed in custody. Investi-gations are ongoing.
