Man arrested after partner attacked at Angoy’s Avenue

Residents of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam yesterday took matters into their own hands after a woman was allegedly attacked by her partner.

After residents became aware that the woman sustained an injury to her face, the alleged attacker’s car was stoned and his cousin was beaten. The suspect was later arrested.

According to the information gathered, the cousin, 49, a seaman and the assailant went to Patrick Dam Angoy’s Avenue around 2 pm.

Upon arriving, the assailant allegedly kicked in the door of a house where he saw his partner with someone else.

An altercation reportedly ensued at the location during which the female suffered a slash above her left eye. She has since sought treatment at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

Based on the information gathered, the assailant then jumped into his car and drove away. He was later apprehended.

Stabroek News was told that after residents realized that the female had been injured they approached the cousin with pieces of wood and they dealt him several lashes resulting in him sustaining injuries to his head and about his body.

He was escorted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he has since been admitted.

Persons in the area yesterday also told Stabroek News that residents stoned the assailant’s car as he was escaping through the village.
