Feaz Baksh Saturday bowled the Albion Cricket Club to a seven-wicket win over Port Mourant Cricket Club in the final of the Zulfikar Mustapha U15 tournament at the Port Mourant Community Development Centre ground. According to a release from the Berbice Cricket Board, the tournament started in late 2020 but the final was delayed due to a number of reasons.
Port Mourant won the toss and elected to bat and, despite a solid opening partnership of 60 runs by Navin Boodwah and Devendra Samaroo in 14, overs, were all out for 93.
Baksh grabbed six wickets for 13 runs from 10 overs while Chamesh Sewnauth had 3-17
The top scorer for Port Mourant was Boodwah with 33 while Samaroo made 17.
Needing to score 94 runs from their allotted 50 overs, Albion were given a solid opening stand of 36 in nine overs by Farhan Balle and Chamesh Sewnauh.
And, despite a spot of bother the level headed Devin Lalbehari 27 not out and Man of the Final, Feaz Baksh with a eight not out led Albion to the crushing victory.
Bowling for Port Mourant, Devendra Samaroo and Nitendra Parachee took a wicket for 14 and 10 runs respectively.
According to the release, BCB President Hilbert Foster, said that the board was happy to play off the final after a long delay due to reasons including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairman of the BCB Competitions Committee, Leslie Solomon, said that the final was another one of the over 100 tournaments successfully completed since early 2018.
Region 6 Vice Chairman Zamal Hussain who represented Minister Mustapha congratulated Albion on a well-deserved victory and encouraged the Port Mourant players to keep their focus.
He encouraged the players to remain disciplined and dedicated to the game and urged them to obtain an educational background.
