Suddie, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region in Region Two, is currently experiencing transformation with several businessmen in the region making massive investments. One such businessman is 43-year-old overseas-based Dudley Franklin Stephens.
Stephens has recognised that the Pomeroon-Supenaam region is quickly transforming and that there is a need for accommodation, dining facilities, and a private medical facility, especially in the Suddie area. As such he has decided to make a multi-million-dollar investment and has constructed a three-storey multi-purpose building at Suddie. The investment will create employment for 35 persons and with demand, more persons will be employed.
Stephens currently divides his time between Guyana and the United States of America.
In an interview with Stephens, he explained that the three-storey building will house a medical centre, a hotel and a restaurant and bar. The ground floor will accommodate a pharmacy, laboratory, and clinics including a dental office, while the second floor will boast a hotel and the third floor, a restaurant and bar. The restaurant promises to offer fine dining and breakfast options.
Stephens said that his family has a passion for development and to see Suddie growing. He added that his father Franklin Stephens’ vision is to see massive development in the community and as such his father advised him to sell land to Ganesh Jaigobin in Suddie. He said that his father knew that the sale of the land will spur development in Suddie.
“My father advised me to sell the two lots to Jaigobin because he knew that Jaigobin being a businessman of high standards would ignite the development in Suddie.”
He said that he has been receiving overwhelming support from his family and his brother Dean George, along with Colette Langford, both of whom were very helpful in the design of the restaurant and bar.
Having recognised that the region does not have many options for breakfast and dinner, Stephens said that he decided to include a restaurant and bar in his investment. He said the restaurant will offer a roof-top experience and will provide a variety of menus to patrons.
“Persons can be able to come and sit with their family and enjoy a good breakfast and dinner in a romantic environment, my vision behind the building is to ensure that Suddie has a private 24-hour medical centre in addition to the public services.”
He added that the restaurant will offer American breakfasts and dinners.
On Wednesday last, the businessman introduced the menu to members of the Guyana Tourism Authority and a few popular personalities in the region. The aim, he said, is to ensure Essequibans experience different tastes of foods in a clean and comfortable environment.
He explained that the menu will be changing and new dishes will be introduced to guests. To ensure that the price is affordable for his seafood options he plans to establish a fish farm to raise salmon and giant prawns..
