League leader Monedderlust continued their unbeaten run in the Berbice Football Association Senior Men’s League, crushing hosts and second-placed outfit Rosignol United by a 3-0 score-line on Wednesday evening at the Rosignol Community Ground.

The only conversion of the physical first half period was witnessed in the ninth minute, as Dawitt Watts rifled his effort into the back of the net.

Upon the resumption of play, two goals in the space of nine minutes sealed the hard-fought result for the No. 5 Village-based outfit. Tyron Delph made his presence felt as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 51st minute, slotting a right-footed effort into the far corner.

The wily Kevin Cottoy then sealed the outcome, lashing his left-footed strike beyond the reach of the opposing custodian in the 60th minute to secure the eventual result, in the process relegating Rosignol United to their first loss in the event.

Meanwhile, the Cougars squeaked past New Amsterdam (NA) United 2-1 in the earlier fixture to climb to fourth place in the standings. Following a scoreless first half period, Kwesi Mickel opened the scoring for the Cougars as he found the back of the net in the 55th minute.

The aforesaid advantage was immediately doubled in the form of Keon George, who found the back of the net in the 56th minute. NA United eventually reduced the deficit in the 66th minute via a Leonardo Adams conversion.

However, any attempts at a comeback were extinguished as the Cougars maintained their marginal advantage to secure the vital result. The tournament will continue at the same venue with another doubleheader on Sunday evening.
