The police yesterday said that another suspect in Tuesday’s armed robbery of a Lusignan supermarket has been held.
It said that a team of detectives from Regional Division 4C and 4A, led by Deputy Commander 4C, Mr Dufu, resulted in the arrest of another suspect in the armed robbery. Akeem Griffith, of Sussex Street, Georgetown, was the suspect nabbed. The Police also recovered a motorcycle used in the robbery. The suspect is in custody assisting investigators.
On Thursday, the police arrested two of the men who allegedly carried out the armed robbery.
The police acted on information/feedback received as a result of the suspect’s photos (CCTV screen grabs) that were posted on the Police Facebook page (gpf.gy) on Wednesday.
One of the suspects arrested is said to be the mastermind, and the other is said to be the one who robbed the cashier with the gun.
The two suspects are expected to be charged. They are:
Ryan Goodluck, a 29-year-old vendor of Her-stelling Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, and of Sussex Street, George-town.
Jamal Seymour, a 25-year-old mason of Sussex Street, Georgetown.
At around 7.34 pm on Tuesday, two female cashiers at the supermarket, Xie Zie Ying, age 50, and Xie Zi Xia, age 46, were robbed of a quantity of GTT and Digicel phone cards (value unknown) and an undisclosed amount of cash, the police said in a statement.
Enquiries disclosed that the four suspects arrived at the supermarket on two (Red and Black XR) motorcycles.
They parked in front of the supermarket, and two of them immediately rush-ed in and simultaneously held both cashiers at gunpoint. After that, they went into the cash register and took the items mentioned.
The suspects then returned to their motorcycles and escaped South on the Lusignan Access Road, the police said.
